The Men’s Health All-Terrain Race (ATR) is Men’s Health magazine’s flagship event for 2008. It is still the only race of its kind in the country. Segregated into a trail and bike run, the MH ATR is for people who love these disciplines and who are looking for a one-of-a-kind experience.

The Trail Run

The trail run is one of the things that makes the All-Terrain Race very unique. Instead of running on level roads, runners will be running on gravel, sand, and sloping hills. It’s not your typical running race.

Course Description Approximately 12 kms. The route is a mixture of dirt and gravel roads, singletrack trail and some cement road around Timberland Heights. The course features a lot of climbing, but most of all some spectacular views.

Suggested equipment Trail running shoes, quick-dry clothing, hydration packs (although there will be at least five water stations), caps, sunglasses, sunscreen.

Rules All participants will be released at the same time, regardless of category. The route will be marked using flags, bunting and banners, and directional & timing marshals will be placed along the route as well. Five water stations will be provided where racers can drink or refill their hydration packs and water bottles.

Estimated distance: 12km.

The Mountain Bike Race

A normal mountain bike race in a not so normal course. It pits bikers against each other in a course designed to test your more than your skills.

Course Description Approximately 20 kilometers of dirt road, technical singletrack and cement around Timberland Heights. The ascents are tough and the trails, tricky, leading to a fast finish.

Suggested equipment Lightweight, high volume tires (2.0"-2.1") with good traction for dry weather, or a thinner, mud shedding tire (1.75 to 1.9") in case it gets wet. Hydration packs are recommended. Helmets are mandatory.

Rules Participants will be released at the same time regardless of category, although the organizers may deem to divide the race into waves if required). The route will be marked using flags, bunting and banners, and directional & timing marshals will be placed along the route as well. No water stations for the bike race so participants must be self sufficient. No outside support will be allowed within the race course, although racers can provide assistance to each other if needed.

Estimated distance: 20km.

The ATR isn’t just a competition. It is also celebration of what the Men’s Health lifestyle is all about. It’s all about good food, good music and more importantly, good company.
Make dad’s day more meaningful by cheering him on as he crosses the finish line.
