Another legend destroyed was Panday. They turned it into a mushy love story then damsel in distress.

The old Panday is reminiscent of a computer gaming classic Diablo.

Recent movies I liked were the remake of The Hills Have Eyes (more savage than the original) and Hostel.

Their are alot of quality Filipino films but they were like mad in the seventies. A time where Filipino directors do not "plagiarize" other films.

i think the copycat syndrome manifests itself more on TV than on filipino films...

nevertheless, recent filipino movies are focused on the masses' likes (dislikes?): fantasy, drama, and the never-ending corniness of cheesy comedy flicks (woah, was that three C's in a row?)...

i wish that filipino directors would shift from popularity & sales to really quality work... i mean, think about it... they tell us, "tangkilikin po natin ang mga pelikulang pinoy", when in fact, there's nothing to "tangkilik" anymore... lol...

Takot kasi pumusta ang mga film producers, sa pag gamit ng mga di kilala na artista. Hindi lang nila alam malaking elemento iyon sa paggawa ng film?

Mukhang maganda yung sequel ng "Pirates of the Caribbean" ah

yup... pero have any of you watched the flick "ang pagdadalaga..."? they say it was really low-budget and teh actors weren't known, but it was one heck of a movie... i hear it even won some awards abroad... WOW... kudos to everyone who made the film... that's the kind of director, production staff, and scriptwriters that the industry needs right now... >sentimental<... lol

I'm looking for a DVD of that. I hear it's good. I wanna see it. If I see this, it would my 4th Filipino film to watch.

See? You got my point. You dont need to have well known actors, Filipino tastes are now developing

Prime chanel (the station that shows philippine race horsing) on cable shows indie plug everyday from 12-1pm. My favorite short will be Dan Michael: master magician.
