I read somewhere (MH Dec 05 ish ata), that instead of going to the barber shop, you need to go to a hairstylist.

Honestly, I wanted to change my hairstyle for the longest time but couldn't find a good and affordable hairstylist to do it. Also, most of them ask you on what you want and do not really want to suggest.  :-\

Is there any make-over hair-over plans? Heheh!  ;D

For a makeover of your hairstyle, a stylist definitely will work wonders more than your usual barbero. I'm not biased, but they're willing to be more experimental. Inexpensive salons: Fix (185), Azta (200), and Essensuals Toni & Guy (300 up).

But then again, there's always your friendly neighborhood parlor, but well...

Cost will depend on seniority of the stylist. Hyperventilate indicated 185 for Fix, I paid close to P500 in my first and last visit. But I like taking my wife there, i think its well spent on the women.

After the first visit i went back to my trusted barber in Brunos Alabang. I give him ideas, he tells me if its OK/NOK for me. I trusted him for my last minute wedding haircut (day before) and he made it look like I've had it for a week. Hindi mukhang bagong tasa. I am sporting a haircut with slight hint of "anime" (too old for full blown styling of this kind). Cut Short and finished with thinning scissors. I apply some gel and never comb.

The price I quoted for Fix is the one for the Senior Stylist. Has the price changed already?

Im kinda confused here... ???

so you have to find a personal stylist...in those salons...

how do you exactly say that when you go there?

"Hi, I'm looking for a personal hair stylist." Will that be enough? :P

Sorry I find that embarrassing... ::)

how do you engage in having a personal hair stylist? ::)

hi! 1st time to post here but i've been visiting this site since it started i guess.  I've been also collecting MH Phil since then. :)

As regards finding your personal hair stylist, you can approach the attendant in the salon and ask for anyone available to do your hair. If you happen to like what he/she did, then the next time you need your hair done again, look for him/her or you can experiment with other stylists until you find someone you prefer most.

Then, build a good relationship with him/her. Tip him/her well, that is.  ;D

Don't get suckered, by the way, to the "Creative Director" trap. The heirarchy of stylists in most salons is purely cosmetic. I find that the more junior the stylist, the more willing they are to work with clients to getting the haircut they want.

Hyperventilate, where can I find the Essensuals Toni & Guy? I've tried Fix, but it was 120php here in Pavillion, Binan, Laguna. HE has been doing my hair for two years now...(But not now, since a friend of mine asked a favor to grow my hair long...)

How are you guys doing there?
