A secret to the success of Seinfeld was the comedian's mastery of a powerful charm principle: Jerry enjoyed the lunatics around him.
When the Georges or Kramers in our lives set sail on some ridiculous rant, most of us get annoyed or impatient. Not Seinfeld. When his George or Kramer was at his most bizarre, the actor often had a small delighted smile on his face, as though he was savoring the plain oddness of this character. This principle stands in real life. Charming folks aren't dismayed by human quirks. They're smitten by the oddness of our kind, half in love with that which makes each of us eccentric rather, one-of-a-kind.
