A Sincere Pleasure
Men's Health Charm School
LESSON #3
When introducing two people, try to attach a quickie compliment: For example, "George, I'd like you to meet Miranda, who gave me one of the great nights of my life in Baguio last summer. And Miranda, this is George, who is the best speller I know."
Okay, that's a joke. No man wants to be described as an orthographic whiz, but you get the idea. Give each person a hook into the other. The unadorned intro gives G and M no conversational toehold, and more important, it's devoid of enthusiasm for them. A charming guy is enthused about his acquaintances, even his recent ones. He's happy to have the opportunity to bring them together, believes they'll like each other. Remember, we're having a good time here.
