1 FOOT PATROL
  1. A flash of color, balanced with gray, is perfect for casual after-dinner parties.

  2. Clogs have unbeatable comfort for running errands and last-minute beer re-stocking.
    Crocs rubber clogs, P1,750, Rustan's

  3. These modern loafers look good sockless, when matched with flat-front shorts or slim pants.
Camper loafers P9,599, People Are People, Rockwell

  4. This rich shade of red is best matched with black trousers and a knit top.
    Springfield sneakers, P3,450, Greenbelt 3

  5. Black sneaks that pay homage to The Greatest are a good contrast to sharp-fitted skinny pants.
Adidas Ali Classic II sneakers, P4,495, Adidas, Greenbelt 3

2 7 WAYS TO BEAT THE FUNK
  1. Sprinkle baking soda inside your shoe, and leave overnight. Shake out the baking soda before wearing the shoe.

  2. Ask for some used coffee grounds from a coffee house. Put in a small container and leave inside your shoe overnight.

  3. Leave two small containers of white vinegar inside your shoe (careful not to spill them), for a day or two to neutralize odor.

  4. Replace your shoe's inner sole with Dr. Scholl's charcoal footbed inserts, or similar products, to absorb the smell.

  5. Smelly shoes come from smelly feet. Wash your feet when you shower, then dry them properly before wearing your shoes.

  6. Lightweight cotton socks allow your feet to breathe. Never re-use yesterday's socks! Fresh socks mean fresh feet.

  7. Alternate between several pairs of shoes in a week. Bonus: This forces you to rotate your clothes to match.

1. Braided leather thongs go well with intimate, late-night outdoor dinners with your girlfriend. CK sandals P3,337.50, The Power Plant mall
2. These Velcro sneaks look stylish with gray, straight-cut jeans and a striped sweatshirt. Adidas Stan Smith P3,695, Adidas Greenbelt

3 7 STEPS FOR A CLEANER SOLE
  1. Before cleaning, remove the laces and the inner soles. Wash these separately. Let them dry completely before using.

  2. Use mild detergent soap, water, and a soft toothbrush to remove dirt and stains. Make sure you also clean the inside of the shoe.

  3. Suede should be wiped with a clean damp cloth, and left to air-dry. Brush suede shoes often with an old toothbrush.

  4. Stuff the shoes with old newspaper to absorb moisture from the inside, and to maintain their shape. Replace when the paper gets damp.

  5. Avoid leaving your shoes under direct sunlight to avoid discoloration. Sunlight can also reduce the elasticity of some rubber soles.

  6. Before polishing, use a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and stains. Always make sure the shoe is dry before applying shoe polish.

  7. For leather shoes, look for a shoe polish that is a close match to the shoe's color. When in doubt, opt for a neutral shoe polish or wax.

1. Black, clean-lined sneakers can be worn with a suit for a more informal look. Sign sneakers, P4,499, People Are People, Rockwell
2. A slim belt that matches the texture of these sneaks makes the perfect accessory. Bally sneakers, P23,500, Bally Greenbelt 3
3. Here's a clever trick for these vintage Converse high-tops: Paired with skinny pants, tie their laces; with regular-cut pants, leave the last lace holes open. Converse High-top sneakers, P2,950, Converse Glorietta
