Searing Hot

Styling by Myron Mariano; Photographs by Frank Hoefsmit (Model) and Vincent Coscolluela (Products); Grooming by Sabs Hernandez; Model: Rocky at Reco Models

Let it be said—even with temperatures soaring a record high of 36ºC, and sweats stains shirts faster than you can say Boracay—summer is still two great months. You've already done the bodywork with Six Pack in Six Weeks (see last month's issue) and Outdoor Gym. You also have your woman to soak up the sun with. What's left is a manual to looking good. These six key outfits will help you face summer in style, whether you're beach-bound, stuck in the city, or thousands of miles away.

Summer Essentials

DRESS SHIRT

Stow a dress shirt in your drawer, and keep it looking fresh. You may never know when a client will unexpectedly show up in the middle of the day as you reek of sweat. Go with light shades like white (great with anything), pale yellow (still dressy), and dusty red (for offices with a relaxed dress code).

LINEN SHIRT

A quintessential summer staple—the light fabric is great for lounging around the beachside, or walking in the sweltering heat of the city. Throw in a jacket and a pair of cream-colored khakis for meetings.

BOARD SHORTS

Unlike Speedo-type trunks that will only fit the guy who graces this issue's cover, board shorts don't require that you be a surfer, beach-bronzed god, or muscled giant. Practically anyone—even short guys—can wear and look good in them. Make sure that you choose short-legged versions of the shorts if you're below six feet.

CASUAL SANDALS

There are loads of informal sandal styles for city dwellers, as well as active trailblazers who need more support and traction. Wear them anywhere, except to dressy events. These styles go best with jeans or cargo shorts. Just make sure your dogs look presentable—especially if your choice of sandal does not have a strap that conceals most of your feet.

LIGHTWEIGHT, UNSTRUCTURED BLAZER

Blazer mania is showing no signs of slowing down—it has been updated to remain comfortable. For a date or a night out with friends, this look can't be beat: blazer, your favorite T-shirt, distressed jeans, and leather sandals (worn sans socks, of course). It is also a must-pack if your idea of the perfect summer escape comprise of a Boeing 747, a 15-hour flight, and a country with a colder climate.
